How Endolift Treats a Double Chin
A double chin is one of those concerns that doesn't care how fit you are or how well you eat. Some people are genetically predisposed to carry fullness under the chin, and no amount of diet or exercise will shift it. For others, it develops gradually with age as the skin loosens and fat redistributes.
Either way, it's a frustration — and until recently, the options were limited to either living with it or going under the knife. Endolift offers a genuine middle ground.
Why the Double Chin Is So Difficult to Treat
The submental area — the space beneath the chin and above the neck — is notoriously stubborn. The skin here is thin, prone to laxity, and sits over a pocket of fat that's highly resistant to lifestyle changes. Traditional non-surgical options like skin tightening devices can help with mild laxity, but they don't address the fat. Fat dissolving injections can reduce volume, but they don't tighten the skin. You're always solving one half of the problem.
This is where Endolift is different. It treats both at once.
How Endolift Targets the Double Chin
The treatment uses an ultra-fine laser fibre — thinner than a human hair — which is inserted just beneath the skin under local anaesthetic. This fibre delivers precise laser energy directly into the tissue, producing three effects simultaneously.
It breaks down and reduces the localised fat cells sitting beneath the chin. It contracts the existing collagen fibres in the skin, creating an immediate tightening effect. And it stimulates new collagen and elastin production, which continues to firm and lift the area for months after the treatment.
The result is a cleaner, more defined chin-to-neck line — without surgery, without general anaesthetic, and without visible scarring.
What the Treatment Looks Like
The procedure starts with local anaesthetic applied to the treatment area, which takes around 20 to 30 minutes to take full effect. Once you're numb and comfortable, the laser fibre is gently introduced beneath the skin and the energy is delivered in controlled, precise passes across the targeted area.
The treatment itself takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes. Most patients find it very manageable — the numbing is the most uncomfortable part, and once that's settled, the procedure is straightforward. You'll be awake throughout and able to go home the same day.
Recovery: What's Realistic
You should expect some swelling under the chin for the first week or so — this is the area responding to treatment and is completely normal. Mild bruising is possible, though not everyone experiences it. Most patients feel comfortable returning to work and normal activities within a day or two, though you'll need to avoid exercise, alcohol, and direct sun exposure for at least the first week.
Sleeping with your head slightly elevated and using cold compresses can help manage swelling in the first few days. You may also be advised to wear a light compression strap to support the area as it heals.
When You'll See Results
This isn't a treatment where you walk out with your final result. The initial swelling needs to settle first, and while you'll start to notice improvements within two to three weeks, the real change develops gradually over the following two to three months as collagen rebuilds and the skin continues to tighten.
That gradual progression is part of what makes Endolift results look so natural. Nobody notices a sudden dramatic change — they just notice that your jawline looks cleaner and your profile looks sharper. Results typically last two to three years, and can be maintained with periodic top-up treatments if needed.
Is It Right for You?
Endolift works best for patients with mild to moderate fullness or laxity under the chin — the kind that bothers you in photos or on video calls but isn't severe enough to warrant surgery. It's ideal if you have a pocket of fat under the chin that won't respond to diet or exercise, skin that's beginning to loosen and lose definition along the jawline, or if you want a meaningful improvement without the commitment and recovery of a surgical procedure.
It's not a facelift alternative for significant sagging, and it won't be the right fit for everyone. That's why a proper consultation is essential before anything else.
