ENDOLIFT® BODY

What is Endolift Body?

Endolift is an innovative, minimally invasive laser treatment that employs a 1470nm diode laser delivered through ultra-fine optical fibres (400-600 micrometres in diameter) to remodel and tighten both the superficial and deep layers of skin and fat. This advanced technology offers precise, controlled treatment that stimulates collagen production and tissue contraction for lasting body contouring results.

How Endolift Technology Works

Endolift utilises a 1470nm wavelength diode laser, specifically selected for its optimal absorption by both water and fat tissue. When the laser energy is delivered beneath the skin's surface, it creates controlled thermal zones that:

  • Stimulate collagen production: The controlled heating triggers the body's natural wound healing response, promoting the formation of new collagen fibres that tighten and strengthen the skin over time

  • Contract existing collagen: Immediate tightening occurs as existing collagen fibres contract in response to the thermal energy

  • Liquefy fat cells: The laser energy gently breaks down fat cells in the treatment area, which are then naturally eliminated by the body's lymphatic system

  • Improve skin elasticity: The remodelling process enhances overall skin quality, texture, and firmness

The ultra-fine laser fibres allow for precise treatment delivery with minimal trauma to surrounding tissues, resulting in less downtime and discomfort compared to traditional surgical alternatives.

  • At Karwal Aesthetics, we utilise Endolift to target multiple body areas for effective skin tightening and contouring. Our treatments include the upper arms to address skin laxity and achieve a more toned appearance, the abdomen for skin tightening and contouring of the abdominal area, the waist to refine and sculpt the waistline, and the knees to tighten loose skin around the knee area for improved contour. Each treatment is tailored to your individual needs to help you achieve your aesthetic goals with this advanced, minimally invasive technology.

  • The duration of an Endolift procedure varies depending on the size and number of areas being treated:

    • Smaller areas (knees, upper arms): Typically 45-60 minutes per session

    • Larger areas (abdomen, thighs, waist): Generally 45-90 minutes per session

The procedure can be performed under local anaesthesia or with topical numbing cream to ensure your comfort throughout the treatment. Your practitioner will discuss the most appropriate anaesthetic option based on your individual needs and the specific areas being treated.

  • Your Endolift appointment will include:

    • Marking: The treatment area will be assessed and marked before the procedure begins

    • Anaesthesia application: Local anaesthetic will be injected to ensure comfort

    • Laser treatment: The laser fibre is inserted beneath the skin and into the fat layer to deliver controlled thermal energy

    • Post-treatment care: Instructions and guidance will be provided before you leave

  • Common Risks:

    • Bruising and swelling: Temporary bruising and swelling at the treatment sites are common and typically resolve within a few days to weeks.

    • Pain and discomfort: Some patients experience mild to moderate pain or discomfort during and after the procedure.

    • Redness and inflammation: The treated area may appear red and inflamed for several days following the procedure.

    • Numbness or altered sensation: Temporary numbness or changes in skin sensation may occur in the treated area.

    Less Common but Serious Risks:

    • Burns or thermal injury: Improper technique or equipment malfunction can result in burns or heat damage to the skin and underlying tissues.

    • Infection: As with any procedure involving skin penetration, there is a risk of infection at the insertion sites.

    • Scarring: Although rare, scarring may occur, particularly if healing is complicated or if the patient is prone to keloid formation.

    • Asymmetry: Uneven results between arms may occur, potentially requiring additional treatment.

    • Skin irregularities: Lumps, bumps, or contour irregularities may develop in the treated area.

    • Nerve damage: Though uncommon, there is a risk of temporary or permanent nerve damage, which could affect sensation or movement.

Consult with a qualified and experienced practitioner to discuss these risks and determine whether Endolift is appropriate for your individual circumstances. Serious risks are extremely rare when the procedure is performed by a qualified, Endolift-trained practitioner. You can find Endolift-trained practitioners on the official Endolift website.

  • We offer Endolift body treatments in Mayfair London. Our clinic located on 15 Dover Street, W1S 4LP.

  • The treatment is performed under local anaesthesia, which is administered via a cannula (a thin, blunt-tipped tube) just beneath the skin. This step can cause an uncomfortable stinging sensation lasting 15–30 seconds, but it is quickly followed by numbness in the treated area. The numbing process takes about 5–10 minutes to cover all treatment areas. Once numb, the subsequent Endolift laser treatment is generally well-tolerated, with most patients experiencing none to minimal discomfort. The anaesthetic typically wears off after 1–2 hours.

  • Endolift Body is particularly well-suited for individuals who:

    • Have mild to moderate skin laxity in specific body areas

    • Are looking for an alternative to surgical procedures like arm lifts or tummy tucks

    • Have already achieved their target weight but struggle with loose skin

    • Want to address skin laxity following weight loss or pregnancy

    • Desire body contouring with minimal downtime

    • Are in generally good health with realistic expectations

It's important to note that Endolift Body is not a weight loss treatment. Ideal candidates should be at or near their target weight and maintain a stable weight through a healthy lifestyle.

  • The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia, so you should not feel pain during the treatment itself. You may feel some pressure or warmth, but this should be tolerable. After the anaesthesia wears off, you might experience mild to moderate discomfort, similar to muscle soreness, which can be managed with over-the-counter pain relief. Most patients find the discomfort very manageable.

  • Most patients achieve their desired results with just one treatment session. However, the number of sessions required depends on several factors, including the degree of skin laxity, the area being treated, and your individual goals. Some patients may benefit from a second session 6-12 months after the initial treatment for enhanced results or to address additional concerns.

  • Results from Endolift Body can last several years, with many patients enjoying improvements for 3-5 years or more. The longevity of results depends on various factors, including your age, skin quality, lifestyle habits, and how well you maintain your weight. The collagen produced during the healing process is long-lasting, but natural ageing continues. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle with proper nutrition, regular exercise, sun protection, and good skincare can help prolong your results.

  • Whilst Endolift Body is not specifically designed to treat cellulite, some patients notice an improvement in the appearance of cellulite as a secondary benefit. The skin tightening and collagen remodelling effects can help smooth the skin's surface to some degree. However, if cellulite reduction is your primary concern, Dr Karwal may recommend other treatments that specifically target cellulite, either alone or in combination with Endolift.

  • There is no specific age limit for Endolift Body. The treatment can be effective for patients in their 30s through to their 70s and beyond, as long as you are in good general health. The key factor is not your age but rather the condition of your skin and the degree of laxity. During your consultation, Dr Karwal will assess your skin quality, elasticity, and overall health to determine whether Endolift is suitable for you. Some older patients with very thin or severely lax skin may be better suited to alternative treatments.

  • Yes, Endolift Body can be effectively combined with other treatments to enhance and complement your results. At Karwal Aesthetics, we offer several injectable treatments that work synergistically with Endolift Body:

    • Sculptra: This collagen-stimulating injectable can be combined with Endolift to further enhance volume and skin quality, particularly in areas where additional volumisation is desired.

    • Profhilo: This bio-remodelling treatment can complement Endolift by improving skin hydration, texture, and elasticity, creating an even more comprehensive rejuvenation effect.

    • Sunekos: This amino acid and hyaluronic acid treatment can enhance skin quality and work alongside Endolift to optimise collagen and elastin production.

    • Polynucleotides: These regenerative injectables can support tissue repair and skin rejuvenation, making them an excellent complement to Endolift treatments.

During your consultation, Dr Karwal will assess your individual needs and may recommend a combination treatment approach to achieve your desired outcomes. The timing of combination treatments will be carefully planned to ensure optimal safety and results.

  • You should avoid strenuous exercise for approximately 2-4 weeks following your Endolift Body treatment. Light walking is usually permitted and even encouraged within a few days to promote circulation and healing. You can typically resume moderate exercise around 2 weeks post-treatment, building up gradually. High-impact activities, heavy weightlifting, and exercises that directly stress the treated areas should be avoided for the full 4 weeks.

  • Yes, Endolift Body can be an excellent option for addressing skin laxity following significant weight loss, provided the degree of laxity is mild to moderate. Many patients who have lost substantial weight are left with loose skin that doesn't respond to diet and exercise. Endolift can help tighten this skin without the need for extensive surgical procedures. However, if you have severe skin laxity with very large amounts of excess skin, a surgical body lift may be more appropriate. It's also important that your weight has stabilised for at least 6-12 months before undergoing treatment.

  • Preparation for Endolift Body is relatively straightforward. Your practitioner will provide specific instructions, but general guidelines include: avoiding blood-thinning medications and supplements (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and vitamin E) for 1-2 weeks before treatment unless medically necessary; staying well-hydrated in the days leading up to your procedure; arranging for someone to drive you home after your treatment; wearing comfortable, loose-fitting clothing on the day of your procedure; and avoiding alcohol for 24-48 hours before treatment. If you smoke, your practitioner will strongly recommend stopping or reducing smoking for several weeks before and after treatment, as smoking can impair healing and affect results.

  • Endolift Body uses extremely thin laser fibres (approximately 300 - 600 micrometres in diameter) that are inserted through tiny entry points in the skin. These entry points are so small that they typically heal without leaving noticeable scars. In most cases, any marks fade within a few weeks to months and become virtually undetectable. The entry points do not require stitches. Proper aftercare and following your practitioner's instructions will help ensure optimal healing and minimal visible marks.

  • One of the unique aspects of Endolift Body is the progressive nature of the results:

    • Immediate: Some tightening visible immediately after treatment due to collagen contraction

    • 2-4 weeks: Initial swelling subsides, and early improvements become more apparent

    • 3-6 months: Optimal results emerge as new collagen formation peaks

    • 12 months and beyond: Results continue to mature and can last for several years

The longevity of results varies depending on individual factors such as age, skin quality, lifestyle, and the area treated.
